Pune: Cybercrooks delayed a 41-year-old software engineer from Wakad RS85,000 with the pretext of buying a used sofa set online.
On December 30, 2021, the fraudsters sent two QR codes to the complainant RS45,000 and transferred from the bank account.
Then, on January 2, RS40,000 online transactions were made by cloning their credit cards.
Techie on Thursday registered a case with Wakad police.
“On December 30, 2021, Techie had posted an ad about the sofa on the e-portal.
Someone contacted Techie and told him that he would initially transfer RS2 to Techie for the trial.” The man has sent a QR code of Rs 2 to the complainant.
After he scans, the number was credited to the Techie account, “the officer said.
The man told the complainant that he would send a QR code of Rs 15,000.” This time, not credit, the money is debited from his account, “added the officer.
Lasted repeatedly.
After losing RS45,000, Techie became suspicious.
