‘Check the site of liquor stores in a residential area’

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the government to carry out new inspections of a site in the Tri Nagar area where residents had sought a shift of a liquor store that was opened recently.
Justice Rekha Palli, who issued a notice and requested a response from the Delhi government and the Excise Ministry, guaranteed by the advice for residents who since they approached the court, they would immediately call ‘Dharna’ in place.
“Given the nature of complaints raised in the petition, respondents 1 and 2 (Delhi government and the excise department) are directed at making new inspections from the site and submitting a report,” said the court and registering a further application.

The Delhi government and the Excise Ministry are represented through the stands of Counsel Santosh Kumar Tripathi and Arun Panwar lawyers.
The court also allowed one of the applicants to be associated with inspections and he would be told about the date and time.
The request, submitted through Advocates S Sharma, said a liquor store was opened on Kanhaiya Nagar’s main road in Tri Nagar, adjacent to the residence of one of the applicants while the other applicants also lived in the same location.
It was said that the Applicant was living with their families there and the bad elements gathered outside the vendor liquor and there was a possibility of unwanted incidents and urging the court to remove or shift the store.
The request said before the opening of the liquor outlet here in Northwest Delhi, there were no surveys carried out by the authorities and there were no opinions or agreements obtained from residents.
Meanwhile, another petition was submitted by owners of liquor stores who were looking for protection from protesters who had blocked into and out to retail outlets in the Govindpuri area in South Delhi here.
