Dr.
Datarkar said the second wave caused the most dangerous post-covid complications in the form of mukormycosis.
“Because it affects the most important maxillofacial region, it forces procedures such as maxillectomy, mandibulectomy and sometimes eliminate zygomatic areas as well.
With this, the roles and responsibilities of the maxillofacial surgeon increases and their new care and reconstruction is the main focus field,” he said .

in this framework, it also supports many vital organs such as eyes, oropharynx, nasopharynx and the main blood of ships and nerves.
Traumatic injuries from the maxillofacial framework independently managed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
“Every time an orbital injury, the eye doctors are trained only to overcome the injury to the eyeball (globe) but if there are related injuries from the orbital framework, the maxillofacial surgeon is involved in its reconstruction.
Most of the nose bone fracture is associated with maxillary bone fractures, mandibular And zygomatic, which is managed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons, “he said.
Maxillofacial face injury when dealing with head injury too.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are involved in managing cleft lip and cleft ceiling, orthognathic operations, micro vascular operations, reconstructive surgical procedures and maxillofacial regions.
Privileges of oral and maxillofacial operations are multi-disciplinary specialties and needs that work in coordination with neurosurgeons, onkosurgeon, ophthalmologists, ENT surgeons and plastic surgeons.
