Udupi: A dialit workers burned burns after he was attacked and chemicals were poured into the village in the village of Hallihole of Byndoor.
The incident was reported on Tuesday when Venkataramana, 35, a resident of Mudooru in Byndoor worked on the Arecanut plantation in Kolekodu.
The defendant has been identified as Sushma Chatra, Shailaja Chatra, Greeshma Chatra, Vijendra Chatra and Suma Vijendra from Kolegodu.
They allegedly harassed Venkataramana verbally and attacked him too.
The plantation is owned by Laxminarayana Chatra.
Sushma Chatra poured chemicals in Venkataramana’s body.
He was also kicked, attacked by hand and stick by the defendant.
Police Shankararaarayana has booked a case below 504, 323, 324 IPC and based on the SC, ST (Prevention of atrocities), 1989.
Police said the incident occurred above the property dispute.
