Chennai: Temple of Nithya Kalyana Perumal in Thiruvidanthai at the East Coast Road (ECR) and Kandaswamy Temple in Thiruporur at Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) is set for facelift.
While Masterplan 3 Crore is being prepared for the temple in OMR, the temple at the ECR will get a large parking lot and ‘Nandhavanam’.
The Kandaswamy Temple has one of the largest tanks in the city and the suburbs and a agency will be employed to clean and maintain it a crowd of bathers regularly there.
Like about one lakh worshiper visited the temple on four days a week, additional parking at 3.8 hectares to accommodate around 250 cars would be arranged.
“The purpose of the Masterplan is to establish facilities including car parking and the surrounding toilet.
One kilometer parking lot from the temple will cause discomfort for worshipers,” said an official.
At the Temple of Thiruvidanthai, ‘Nandhavanam’ and the wedding center will be made in the area of ​​one hectare.
“The focus of ‘Nandhavanam’ is having a bio diversity with flowers.
There is a plot with 15 trees, which will be used for that purpose,” the official said.
New parking lots will be arranged at three hectares.
