Chennai: Three School Children – A class X girl in a private school in Alwarpet, a class X boy in a private school in a painting and a class XI boy in higher school in TabiaPet – has been tested positive for Covid 19 in Chennai in the past week.
City education officers confirmed this and said there were no other cases reported among students in the city so far.
Zonal Health Officer Teynampet E Saraswathi said his class X and his parents returned from Bengaluru on August 30.
“On September 2, they developed a cough and cold symptoms.
They gave samples to the private lab for testing.
On September 4, the results were positive.
Parents immediately told the principal and the girl returned home.
We collected 104 samples from school Children and staff.
All have been tested negative.
We have told them to find symptomatic children and immediately report, “he said.
The girl and her parents were treated at the Raja Preventive Medical Institute and Research, Guindy.
Both parents have been vaccinated.
“They are fine and only have mild symptoms,” Sarawathi said.
The second case was reported on September 8.
Class X Boy studied in private schools in a positive tested scurry.
He was a negative twin brother.

Venkataraman told Ti that the father of the boy was vaccinated with both doses.
“The Father experienced a fever on September 2 but then the symptoms subsided.
But his son complained of body pain after that they tested the child and family.
The child was tested positively but the mother and sister were tested negative.
We tested all students and staff at school.
All have been tested negatively , “said Venkalatan.
The duo was treated at ESI Hospital in Ayanavaram.
They have mild symptoms, he said.
In the third case, a class XII at a higher middle school corporation in Tondarpet was tested positively on September 9.
He was stable, said the official.
No other students were tested positively from school.
