Chennai: Nine population of the city of Lakh was set to get the drinking water supply in April 2023 because it worked on a newly developed desalination plant.
Residents of Ulagaram Puzhudhivakkam, Velachery, Madipakkam, Sholinganallur, Harandur, St Thomas Mount and Pallavaram will be supplied with water from a new factory that appears in nemeli next to the existing desalination plant.
Those who live along the IT corridor will also get pipe water supply, said an official metrowater.
Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday examined a new factory that had the capacity to supply 150 million liters of water treated.

Metrowater has begun to put the pipeline from this factory to the Pallavaram area.

To overcome this problem, two desalination plants in Minjur and Nemeli were established with the capacity to treat 100 million liters of sea water a day.
This plant meets the needs of several regions of water in North and South Chennai.
The first factory was inaugurated at that time the Chief of MIN minister was struggling.
The foundation stone for those in Nemeli was placed by the current Minister of Chief, MK Stalin when he was the principal deputy minister in 2010.
Water treated from Nemmeli desalination plants was supplied to residents in Velachery, Pallippattu, Adyar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Kostvakkam, Palavakkam , Neelangarai, Sholinganallur, besides that the company in South Chennai.
As on Tuesday, Metrowater attracted 55 million liters of water treated from desalination plants and 88 million liters of water treated from Minjur desalination plants.
The capacity of each of these plants is 100 million liters a day.
With six reservoirs including Veeranam full of water, Metrowater reduced the amount of water drawn from these two plants, a metrowater official said.
