Chennai: Art to replace the poster at Anna Flyover

Chennai: Anna Flyover will soon get rid of posters and graffiti which currently covers the wall because the landmark gets a makeover.
Artists are busy beautifying the bridge facade, describing the iconic structure in the city.
A team of artists recently completed a large 16 feet and 30ft large painting in one portion of the flyover.
Others have just been cleaned of all posters but have not been cleaned.
Thirty-two years of praburan, a man behind this painting, said his team added a rich landscape in front of their rendering from Valluvar Kottam and Madras High Court to give Royal to the building.
The painting was designed by his colleague Sugumar.
Prabakaran, who graduated from the College of Fine Arts, said he began the painting with his coachman, Mani, Velan, Shared, and Gowtham last Monday and finished on Thursday.
“Even though it became an iconic structure, Anna’s flyover wall was constantly being brought close to the poster,” said an assistant engineer with official Corporation Corporation said beauty work was part of the ‘Singara Chennai 2.0’ campaign.
The ₹ 500 Crore scheme was launched to make Chennai Cleaner and Greener.
“The beauty of the city walls is part of a larger campaign where we have removed posters from public walls and each zone has been assigned by carrying out the task,” said a senior civilian art official on Sundays, paintings finished on the public wall in the 10 zone (Kodambakkam), 11 (Valasaravakkam), 13 (Adyar) and 15 (Sholinganlatur), the official release said from City Corporation.
“In places like public park walls, we ask artists to paint animals or other simple paintings.
On the wall of the government building, we ask artists to paint art messages and abstract awareness.
We also coordinate with private companies to sponsor paintings,” said a person Company senior official.
