Chennai: Floods of new diseases including flu, stomach and respiratory infections and viral conjunctivitis have extended the queue outside the doctor’s clinic throughout the city for the past three days.
Some people, especially the elderly and children, need treatment for hospitalization, said the doctor.
In addition to a private hospital, the clinical fever organized by Greater Chennai Corporation has also seen a surge in the case of diarrhea of ​​the water default for the past two weeks, officials said.
While some patients report symptoms such as flu including fever, coughing and body pain, others with diarrhea and symptoms of acute gastritis, and some who have severe respiratory infections.
“Such infections are expected after heavy rain.
And this is a fever season for the city,” City Health Officer Dr.
M Jagousesan.
The Civic Agency did not release data on the number of cases of fever, but said most patients were treated as outpatients.
“Doctors prescribe medicine and advise them to drink boiled water,” he said.
While most cases of fever limit themselves, patients must be more careful when they suffer from flu or diarrhea.
The neighborhood hospital said they received complaints about clusters in the apartment block from Alwarpet, Mylapore and KK Nagar.
Experts say this can be a case of acute gastroenteritis or cholera.

Eye experts also reported an increase in viral conjunctivitis.

The public health department has asked the district health authority throughout the state to intensify medical camps in areas recorded by water to prevent water-borne diseases.
