Chennai: The Central Investigation Bureau on Monday captured KathPal, the former head of the main mechanical engineer at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Purger, for demanding and accepting bribes ₹ 50 lakh.
The CBI conducted a search in nine places accused of in Delhi and Chennai and recovered around ₹ 2.75 crore cash and around 23 kg of gold.
CBI said he had held four other people in this case.
The case against the 1984 Batch IRSME officers was registered “to pamper themselves in various activities in collusion with a female director of a private company based in Chennai and others in the award / tender implementation in connection with the ICF mechanical division.” The CBI said the defendant had collected bribes from the director of the private company and another between February 2019 and March 31, 2021 (retirement date).
He used the Director of Private Company Directors as a channel to collect bribes in his name and also as guards to keep the alleged illegal satisfaction around ₹ 5.89 crore received in his name.
The CBI said about Kathpal’s request, a private company director had arranged to provide ₹ 50 lakh as the first installment of the total bribe stored in his prisoner through another person from a company based in Chennai and his work partners in Delhi.
