CHENNAI: A sub-inspector of police attached to the Kasimedu police station in Chennai was arrested on Friday for sexually harassing a 15-year-old girl in Madhavaram.
The minor girl is the daughter of a woman with whom he had an extramarital affair.
The girl’s mother and aunt were also arrested.
The arrested SI has been identified as Sathish Kumar, 37, of Tiruvallur.
When he was working in Madhavaram earlier, Sathish Kumar developed a relationship with the girl’s mother.
Later, he had an affair with the elder sister of the girl’s mother.
Sathish Kumar made sexual advances to the teenager.
He gave her expensive gifts.
But she refused to budge.
He threatened her at gunpoint.
Her mother and aunt were hand in glove with him, police said.
The SI threatened to kill the girl, her father and her brother if she disclosed his activities.
Later, the girl’s father came to know about the SI’s doings.
He tried to lodge a complaint with a local station but was sent back.
The father approached a Tamil magazine to expose the SI which led to the arrest.
The trio were booked under sections of the POCSO Act and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
