Chennai Cops urged the city police to surrender 115 empty posts

Coimbatore: Chennai police have approached the city police, who struggled with a lack of labor, to surrender 115 of 411 vacancies to the newly created Avadi and Tambaram commissioner.
While the city police have the power of sanction 2,511, the current strength is 2,100.
A police officer said Coimbatore was the second largest city in the state after Chennai.
“Without sufficient police personnel, it is difficult to maintain the legal & order situation and prevent crime in the city.
People’s representatives and other organizations must demand the state government to provide sanctions at the additional police station in the city, while increasing the strength of the city police.” At present ” There are 15 police stations in the city.
Former City Police Commissioner Deepak M Damor has sent a proposal to the government to increase the strength of each police station to 120 and distribute five police stations in the Karumbokatai area, Vellalore, Ondipudur, Sitra and Ganapathy.
He also looked for 300 additional police personnel for traffic wings and two platooners (each consisting of 62 police) from the city armed reserve police.
But the proposal was still delayed before a police senior official in Chennai.
