Chennai: The Greater Chennai Corporation has issued flood warnings to people living in the Manali area because 35,000 cusec water is being released from the Pondi reservoir.
The quantum of water released from the reservoir might be enhanced on Friday night because more water flows into the Kosasthalaiyar River from Andhra Pradesh.
62 families have shifted to the shelter managed by corporations from Manali Pudhu Nagar Phase One and Phase Two.
Residents in Amman Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Jennifer Nagar, Hospital Nagar and Mahalakhmi Slum area have shifted to Vive street high school in Manali.
Gagandeep corporate commissioner Singh Bedi met with residents and told them about the flood situation.
The Civic body uses loudspeakers, vans and autos to warn people from flood warnings, he said.
