Chennai Corporation to punish mosquito breeding sites

Chennai: With intermittent rain in the city, Greater Chennai Corporation has begun the prevention of intensive dengue fever and punish the population and the company if the breeding of mosquitoes / larvae is found in their place.
According to corporate sources, the city has recorded nine cases of dengue fever in the city in July to Tuesday.
In June, three cases were recorded.
Corporate sources say if the rain continues, the egg will be swept away but the intermittent rain causes a puddle of small fresh water to help breed.
Dengue Mosquitoes, Aedes, lay eggs in stagnant water.
During the northeast monsoon, heavy rain washing eggs and larvae.
But during the southwest season, the current, intermittent rain caused a puddle of water that helped the breeding of these mosquitoes, an official said.
Corporate sources say that for each case, they do inspections near the patient’s home and try to find out the sources of the mosquito breeding site.
“In one case, we found that near the patient’s house, there were used shops where the tire had a stagnant water pool which had several mosquitoes,” said an official.
According to the penalty structure, homeowners will be issued notice during the first violation, Rs 100 for the second violation and 200 Rs for the third violation.
The apartment complex will be fined RS 500 for the first violation, RS 5,000 for the second and Rs 15,000 for the third violation.
Small shops will be fined Rs 500 for the first violations, Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 for the second and third violations.
Commercial companies, government and industrial buildings must pay Rs 10,000 for the first violation, Rs 25,000 for the second time and Rs 1 Lakh for the third violation of the time.
