CHENNAI: Residents from town have asked the state authorities to raise the amount of programs available to get driving licences (DLs) and students’ licences (LLRs) in Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
At the moment, RTOs are permitted to process just 30 DL along with LLR software daily while the requirement is significantly greater.
Because of this, internet slots in many RTOs from town and its suburbs are booked until the very first week of July.
Individuals at Tondiarpet (RTO signal: TN 03), Kolathur (TN 05) or KK Nagar (TN 09) can make an application to get a new LLR just on July 10.
All of LLR slots for individuals at Virugambakkam (TN 10) and also Tambaram (TN 11) are complete until July 8.
For inhabitants of Mandaveli (TN 06), Ambattur (TN 13) and also Meenambakkam (TN 22), LLR slots have been offered just for another one week and not one accessible on Sunday.

Parivahan, the Union government website whereby these reservations can be produced, provides a unique exemption for DL applicants whose LLR validity is nearing conclusion.
“However, this alternative rarely works,” explained K Senthil of all Koyambedu.
A senior transportation department official stated there wasn’t any need to fear in regards to renewal because the government has expanded the validity of motor-vehicle related records until September 30.
The limitations in the amount of slots are made to decrease disease spread as numerous RTO staff also have been influenced from the next wave of Covid-19.
Any alteration in such a has been created by the authorities because it’s a policy issue, he said, requesting anonymity.
Residents also complain of regular technical glitches at the Parivahan website.
Admitting such ailments, transportation minister S Rajakannapan imputed it to mismanagement from the previous AIADMK government, and it has promised measures to rectify them shortly.
“Additionally, actions will be taken against agents and other prohibited intermediaries,” he explained.
