Chennai Doc Murder: 2 Lawyers Among 7 Death Penalty

Chennai: City Court on Wednesday sentenced two advocates and five others to death in the brutal murder of Subbiah, a neurologist, seven years ago in Chennai.
While two other people were sentenced to lifetime, his Apr was alone in this case released without punishment.

Directing that all sentences ordered to the defendant will go together, the court said, “From the total fine of RS 10 Lakh, a number of RS 1 Lakh must be adjusted to the state and balancing the RS 9 Lakh to be paid to the wife of Subbiah Shanthi who died, as compensation below Section 357 (2) CRPC.
“Because the death penalty must be confirmed by the High Court, the court directed the direct transfer of the bundle case to the High Court to confirm the death penalty which was applied based on part 366 CRPC.
