Chennai formed 46% of Covid-19 cases in TN

Chennai: New cases in Tamil Nadu touched 1,489 on Saturday, 334 cases more than the calculation on Friday.
While 33 of 38 districts reported a marginal increase in new cases, the sharpest increase was reported in Chennai, followed by Chengalpet, Tiruvallur, Vellore, and Kanyakumari.
Eight deaths took the dead in the state to 36,784.
In the end, 611 people were dismissed from the hospital left 8,340 active cases.
While Chennai reported 682 new cases, the city reported nearly 46% of the total cases reported in the country – almost 16% increased from reported cases on Friday.
Along with Chennai, cases in Chengalpet and Tiruvallur also continued to increase.
On Saturday, Chengalpet reported 168 new cases and Tiruvallur reported 70 new cases.
The Chennai area – Chengalpet, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chennai – together reported 955 new cases.
While the average seven days of new cases in the city are now 870 compared to 600 a week ago.
During the same time the average number of cases in the city rose to more than 350 of 145.
“We see new clusters and large new cases every day,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
“Most patients have symptoms of light or no viral infections at all.
But we isolate patients in hospitals or covid care centers to prevent transmission,” he said.
Besides Chennai, Chengalpet and Tiruvallur, all other districts reported less than 50 cases.
Mayiladuthurai restrictions on all other districts report new cases.
At least 16 districts report cases in one digit.
Vellore (39) and Kanyakumari (31) reported 25 and 22 cases more than Friday.
Four passengers from the UAE and one of Sri Lanka were tested positive for viral infections, along with three of Delhi.
In addition, six passengers from Bangladesh, four of West Bengal and one from Jharkhand traveling with a positive tested road for viral infections.
Of the eight deaths, there are two of Vellore, each of Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruvallur, Tiruppur, Krishnagiri and Thiruvarur.
