Chennai: A DMK official, who helped the police arrest the history of last year, hacked to death on Wednesday night in a public view in Anna Nagar.
Dozens of riders and cars passed when the eight gang attacked the victim.
Early on Thursday morning, four men surrendered before the police in connection with the murder.
The police identified the deceased when Sampath Kumar from the 18th Cross Street at T P Chatram.
An officer said he was a functionary DMK environmental level which was also involved in the water delivery business.
Introduction Investigation revealed that Kumar gave a police information that led to the arrest of historical-Sheeter named Lenin.
Lenin Somangalam hid in a neighboring house Kumar.
When Kumar knew this, he told the police location Lenin and immediately after that, Lenin was arrested.
Their neighbors were concerned, Vinayagam, 47, realized that Kumar gave the police tip and took a grudge against him.
