Chennai: A 23-year-old student was killed by a gang in front of his family in Kancheepuram early on Wednesday.
The perpetrators suspected he had tipped a rival gang about the Sheeter’s historical movement which was later killed.
The police identified the deceased as S Ranjithkumar, 23, a resident of Kadapakkam and a student at a private college.
On Saturday, a 35-year history, Sheeter Ramesh was killed by a gang when he was waiting for the bus from Kkadukam to Kaseatedu.
Ramesh had killed a man in Kasimedu a few months ago and came out with a conditional guarantee.
Worried that the rival gang would kill him, Ramesh lay low, stayed at a relative house in Chunambedu and only lived on the bus, police said.
After his death, Ramesh’s accomplice tried to find out who told the rival gang about the existence of Ramesh and suspected Ranjithkumar since he was friends with the attackers.
The police said Ranjithkumar was at his home at Wee’s house on Wednesday when the four member gang entered his house and hacked him to death.
His family members managed to run out and reminded neighbors.
The gang escaped from the place.
Chunambedu police enrolled further cases and investigations.
