Chennai: The city, which was pounded by heavy rain for almost five days, continued to remain underwater in several places on Friday when efforts by the authorities failed to bring expected assistance.
According to B Balachandran, DDG, IMD, the state received 10cm rainfall between 7 and 12 November against normal 4cm, which was 142% of excessive rainfall, and Chennai recorded 46cm rain on an average of 8cm, namely a surplus of 491%.
The low pressure area will be formed above the South Andaman Sea on Saturday, but experts say the city might get a pause from the shower until the middle of next week.
