Chennai: A grade 11 boy, who left his house in Washermenpet with RS 33 Lakh in cash and 213 sovereign gold ornaments after his parents limited him from playing online games, traced to Tambaram within 24 hours by the city police on Thursday.
The 15-year-old planned to escape to Nepal with stolen booty.
The police said Prakash (name changed), the son of the Metro Water Contractor Venkat Kumar from Mottai Thottam in Washermenpet used to spend several hours playing online games.
He was addicted to this game and used his parents smartphone even during online class.
After paying attention to this, his mother who worked as a professor at a female college in Vallalar Nagar, scolded him and limited the screen time.
On Wednesday, Prakash left his house not returning for more than two hours.
Parents who are worried look for them in the whole environment and ask all of his friends.
At home, they found cash and gold ornaments worth 75 lakh flowing from the safe.
They immediately contacted the Deputy Washermenpet Police Commissioner Shiva Prasad and filed a lost complaint.
The police worked in a special team and tracked Prakash using his call with the help of Sohuth virtual world crime.
He was traced to the cottage near Tambaram, where the police team rushed to save him.
The initial question revealed that the boy was getting ready to promise some of the gold in a pawnshop and had booked a flight ticket to Kathmandu in Nepal.
The police team managed to bring the child back to Washermenpet and reunite him with family together with valuables.
