Chennai: Chennaiites while traveling can immediately attend nature calls in the futuristic toilet complex.
Greater Chennai Corporation works to regulate the upgraded toilet complex, full of food court which has an automatic vending machine and electric vehicle charging station, on small plots throughout the city.
Zonal authorities have begun looking for locations along the East Coast Road (ECR), Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) and several regions in Central Chennai where the project can be done based on pilots, a senior official said.
If successful, the Civic body can increase the project to install at least the 1,000-1,500 complex.
People can use free toilets and maintenance costs will come from income collected through the food court and other facilities, an official said.
The TEC Urbaninfra Furniture (staff) contractor sign is executing this project.
In addition to color coded toilets for men and women, the complex will also have provisions for those who are physically disabled.
All locations will have ramps.
The toilet for women will come with a vending machine and Sanitary Disposal Machine Napkin.
Mother’s care centers are also planned in several complexes.
High pressure pumps will ensure that the water supply to the toilet is recharged in six seconds, the word CEO of staff R Sridar.
The toilet will be equipped with UV lighting to kill germs and shower type cleaning systems with all operations that are fully handled by IOT.
It will also have a special alarm that will go if vandalism.
“The cleaning process can be programmed in different modes,” Sridar said.
UV technology has been sourced from research and defense development organizations (Drdo).
The toilet tends to be called ‘Unga toilet’ or ‘GCC Smart Toilets’.
The toilet itself will be a concrete mold.
It can be installed at a location of more than one or two nights which causes a minimum disruption to traffic, said Sridar.
“In the city like Chennai even leaving the sea’s face corrosion.
Concrete toilets will have 50 years old, higher than metal toilets,” he added.
In terms of vandalism, the system will send a warning to the local corporate area engineer that encourages a quick visit to the place, if necessary.
The security camera installed on the site can be linked to the Civic Bity’s Command and Control Center, Sridar said.
A similar model was assigned to Trichy Corporation under the City City project just before the first wave of Covid-19.
Some models have been served by contractors.
For example, some locations will have an EV charging station for four wheels, while some others will have ‘swap battery’ technology for autos.
