Chennai Metro took over the part of the playground

Chennai: The day after the company’s playground is closed for the construction of the Metro Railway, some of the YMCA playgrounds at the High Road Royapettah have been battered for the construction of the Royapettah Hospital Metro Station.
Within a few days, a portion of the land in the Royapettah Government hospital across the street will also be baked.
Royapettah Hospital Station is part of the Corridor-3 phase-2 of Madhavaram to Siruseri Sippot.
Phase-2 118.9km is expected to be ready in 2026.
Last week, JCB was busy removing debris from YMCA soil after destroying the building, even when children were seen practicing cricket in the net on the other side of the ground and archery on the other side.
There are also visitors who ask about commotion.
“The entry point / out of the station will be built here with stairs, escalators and lifts.
Ventilation shaft will also appear at the location,” said an official on the site.
According to a detailed phase-2 project report, this station will appear at a depth of 15m.
CMRL officials said they had acquired 239SQM permanently and 415sqm temporarily.
The Royapettah hospital station will have thousands of East Station lights and Junction Salai Radhakrishnan on both sides.
A YMCA official said CMRL had permanently obtained 2500sqft from them for the construction of a portion of the station.
Playgrounds have been around since 1920, and spread on 2.16lakh sqft.
It has become a room for training for various sports for children including cricket, archery, tennis, table tennis, karate and taekwondo.
In recent years, land is also regularly hired for political and exhibition meetings.
“The contractor asked us for more space to use during construction, but our board refused because we did not want our sports training to be affected,” the official said.
“But we give a portion of the land where there are buildings because it is a public utility facility and will be very useful for our members who practice here and other visitors once the station appears,” he added.
The driver can fight the space at the Royapettah High Road that is already busy because the outer wall of the station will be built right in the middle of the road and may involve barricades several parts of the road when construction is underway.
“We can start a partial barricade from the government hospital from next week.
We are ready for a parking lot for hospitals at the nearest children’s hospitals, because we will take over the parking lot in the hospital,” said an official.
