Ennore recorded 1mm University and Satyabhama at OMR recorded 3mm rain.
There is also a very short shower mantra in several core areas in the city like Nungambakkam, Royapettah, Mylapore and the area closer to the beach.
The upper air circulation has caused rain in various parts of the country, especially in the south, the department official said.
Rain in Chennai is also caused by this air circulation.
