Chennai: There are more requests for soft fireworks such as flower pots and Sparkler and not crackers this year after a ban on manufacturing, storing, transporting and selling crackers and fireworks series containing barium salt.
Most of the visitors to the annual Cracker Fair on Grounds Island are seen choosing soft fireworks such as flower pots and Sparkler.
While the price of Cracker jumped by 15%, traders keep their fingers over the prohibition of cracker series and fireworks containing barium salt.
The sale of fireworks is average, and is expected to increase when diwali getting closer.
