Chennai: Preparation work for the high-speed corridor project Chennai-Bengaluru-MySuru-Mysuru-Mysuru seems to move fast as a final contract to set up a detailed project report (DPR) has been given.
The company will prepare images alignment of lines in areas where it crosses the river, canals, bridges, roads, railways, highways and other similar facilities and will also prepare general station images.
The job carrying out complete mapping of alignment already exists.
The contract is the last of the seven needed to prepare the DPR.
If everything goes according to plan and the route is open, the train will travel at 300kmph-320kmph on the standard measuring line.
Time travel between the three cities will be reduced to just one and a half hours.
At present, Shatabdi Express covers a distance of seven hours.
Two lines must be placed along the fenced corridor that will be 50 meters wide to 60 meters.
Although the map of the final alignment is being prepared, a separate contract has been given to the company to map only the field where the line must cross the river, smaller water bodies and other obstacles because the rules require comprehensive studies including, in the case of rivers, up to two km on both sides of the line .
Because the speed is high, the field and its character around the line, the station and depot need to be studied before alignment can be repaired and the station can be designed, the train official said.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) has identified nine stations including Chennai, Poonamallee and Arakkonam within a year ago and earlier this year it gives a contract for the design of final alignment and environmental management plans.
The last alignment was being prepared using Lidar technology that helped in mapping the field including the river and a small water body in three to four months instead of almost a year because the helicopter equipped with a sensor would be used to map the field.
After the study of the DPR and the environmental impact was completed, the NHSRC would float the tender for civil works to start construction, an official said.
The National RAL plan has fixed a time limit of around 2051 for high speed lines.
The Chennai-MySuru line is part of six corridors including Mumbai-Ahmedabad and the proposed Delhi-Varanasi.
