Chennai: New rules for auctions, fish sales in Kasimedu

Chennai: The auction and sale of fish in the modern market in Kasimedu Harbor will be carried out by the end of this week in accordance with the appropriate Covid behavior.
A senior fisheries department official said the auction, was generally held when the catch arrived, now it will be permitted only between 10 pm and 5 in the morning on the port side of the port.
The auction area will be recorded and only regular participants, which have been issued by the identity card by the Department of Fisheries, will be permitted after serving the card to the official at the entrance.
People who want to buy fish will only be permitted only after 6 in the morning, a movement aimed at spreading people from gathering in large quantities in one place in one place.
During last weekend, the auction participants and fish buyers mingled freely and the port area wore a crowded look, the official said.
This new plan is the joint efforts of Greater Chennai Corporation, the Department of Fisheries and police to prevent crowding in the largest fish landing center and retail market.
On Thursday, a meeting was carried out by the fisheries department with representatives from various government departments, the association of fishermen, ship owners and police.
Fishermen Sea faveling, ship owners, drivers, men and women involved in auction and those involved in retail trading have been advised to take vaccines.
Some special camps have been held so far and a large number of fishermen provide vaccines.
A similar program is being planned immediately, the official said.
New settings will take effect this weekend based on trials.
Depending on the results, the department will decide to continue.
The department does not have a proposal to shift the auction or market center because there is no space available elsewhere, the official added.
