Chennai: Bilal Malik, an alleged fundamentalist who is part of a gang that planted a pipe bomb in the culverts at Thirumbalam near Madurai in 2011 targeting the former Deputy Prime Minister of LK Advani, bitten by a snake when he tried to chase him from his cell in high security blocks in prison Puzhal -1.
When he returned to his cell around 8:30 a.m.
on Saturday, Malik found the Snake of Indian mice (PTYAS Mucosa), on a mosquito net.
He tried to chase him when the reptile apparently bbled his hand.
When he shouted for help, fellow inmates arrived and chased the snake.
When Malik fainted, officials gave him first aid at the prison hospital and then took him to the Stanley Government Hospital for further treatment.
Although the mouse snake is the least venomous, officials do not want to take risks and therefore hurrying Malik to GH, an official said.
The doctor told officials that Malik responded well for care and in stable conditions.
On October 5, 2013, Malik was arrested from a hiding place in Puthur, Andhra Pradesh.
The police first arrested a suspect named ‘Police Fakruddin from the period when he tried to bring down the umbrella festival which headed from Chennai to Tirupati and his arrest then led the team to Bilal Malik, who lived with his wife and children.
Another key suspected of Panna Ismail, which is part of this gang, was arrested from a rented house in Puthur.
