Chennai: The day after Chennai Greater Corporation (GCC) released a Helpline number to reach people in a flooded environment, and appoint senior IAS officers to oversee assistance work, complaints increased on how calls were not followed up, or responded.
Rama Prabhakar, a resident of Jalan Srinivasan Mandaivasi, woke up to almost three feet of water flooded the road outside his home on Thursday.
It entered the ground floor of their apartment in a short time, damaging furniture and electronic devices.
The family said they filed a complaint on the Application of the Namma Chennai GCC in the morning and called their Helpline 1913 soon after that.

Yamini Thirumaran, A resident of Jalan Perumal Mudali at Royapettah said that he had shared photos of uninhabited compound walls that had been broken into their places and a large tree branch hunted on their roof, with local IAS officers, but never heard back.
“When we called 1913, our complaints were compiled,” he said.
