Chennai: Rebuilding Egmore, CENTER STNS has not taken off

Chennai: Plans to develop two main train stations in the city – Chennai Central and Egmore – into world-class facilities remain non-starters even though they are being considered for more than 10 years.
Some schemes are debated to rebuild these stations from time to time.
After the Union government gave his approval, a project was launched in 2017 to develop commercially land around the center.
The Minister of Train Suresh Prabhu launched a plan to develop commercial facilities at 1 hectare near the station and around 45 hectares were identified around the future for future development, but nothing had changed on the ground.
Meanwhile, the train has changed several stations such as Habib Ganj at Bhopal Terminal and MV Visvesvaraya in Bengaluru to facilities such as airports.
Request for proposals for rebuilding Delhi and Mumbai CST stations have also been taken.
While Egmore Railway Station is on the list of stations marked for upgrading to WorldClass facilities, Central Not.
A senior railroad official said Eggore had been included in the return plan by the Indian train station development company.
“They have not submitted a plan (for eGmore).
Central is not in the list but will be taken soon,” Officially added.
T Sadagopan, a consumer activist, said many plans continue to stay on paper or take a long time to be applied.
“In addition, state government institutions also submit reports to increase passenger facilities, including access to suburban stations regularly.
