Chennai received ‘toughest rain since 2015

Chennai: Chennai experienced heavy rain last night because of the condition as an introduction to the formation of low pressure on the bay of Bengal.
Personal weather bloggers say this is the ‘toughest rain’ city has experienced since 2015.
Nungambakkam received 215.3 mm of rain while Meenambakkam received 113.6 mm on Sunday.

Subway Subway Vyasarpadi Ganesapuram and T Nagar Duraisamy are closed for traffic.
The flood house in Velacherytiruvalur Collector said 3,000 cusec water would be released from the Poondi reservoir starting at 9 in the morning.
People who live in the lowlands on the banks of the Kosasthalaiyar River are advised to be vigilant.
Chennai Officials Corporation, Metrowater and PWD are discussing if water must be released from the Chembarambakkam lake.
Evacuation is taking place in several regions.
Officials say 500 cusec water will be released from the Puzhal reservoir from 11am.

The department also estimates that low pressure will be formed above Bay Bay and is likely to move towards North Tamil Nadu Beach after being more low pressure.
