Chennai: There is a big demand for international travel, especially for transit to Europe and the US, because at least four countries other than Egypt, Qatar, Spain, Canada, and countries in Africa, have begun to allow brochures without quarantine.
Although more roads are open to travel, air fees continue to remain high.
Chennai-Doha’s one-way ticket is priced at Rs 15,000 to RS 1 Lakh while Chennai-Cairo and Madrid tickets are priced at Rs 27,000 to RS 84,000.
This is the most popular route taken by travelers from the city to reach Europe and the US.
Egypt, Ukraine, Canada, Spain, Russia, Maldives has relaxed the rules and has released the need for quarantine for those who come with a RT-PCR test.
These countries also allow all types of visas.
It has opened more options for transit for those who head to Europe and the US.
Tourists need to choose a comfortable transit airport because of the direct arrival not permitted to the US.
When the route through Delhi is more or less busy, people fly through Doha, Dubai, Kiev, Cairo to the US.
Student traffic to the US has encouraged the cost of these routes while a small number of business trips must also go to Europe, airline officials said.
Basheer Ahmed from the Chennai Metro journey said, “More options have been opened but it’s expensive.
People prefer Doha as a transit point to fly to the US.
Spain and Egypt are also preferred.
The tariff is high because only the number of flights is limited.
Operated in Air Bubble Agreement.
Restrictions on the number of flights must be relaxed when countries are ready to accept vaccinated passengers and those who come with RPCR reports without quarantine.
