Chennai residents want a barricade at e Coast Rd removed

Chennai: Residents of Kamraj Nagar in Thiruvannimiyur demanded that the barricades on the East Coast road opposite the Marundeeswarar temple was removed.
Previously, vehicles entered the city from Mahabalipuram or Puducherry using ECR to LB Road Junction.
But a few years ago, the barricade was placed at the crossing of the ECR and Kamaraj Nagar South Avenue opposite the Chennai Central Cooperative Bank.
As a result, all vehicles are bound by Chennai must turn to this intersection and travel through Jalan Interior Kamaraj Nagar to reach LB road signal.
Because the portion of the ECR gradually widened, most heavy vehicles began to prefer ECR above the old Mahabalipuram road (OMR) to avoid traffic congestion and stretched toll.
Kamaraj Nagar, developed by the Tamil Nadu housing board, especially for housing use, began watching traffic congestion, especially during rush hour.
Furthermore, to limit the entry of buses and trucks to Kamaraj Nagar, Police Chennai installed obstacles along the traffic jammed road.
Within a few months, this obstacle at the intersection of Kamaraj Nagar and LB Road was also removed.
“Initially, it was stated that the barriers to blockade and high restrictions were only a temporary step.
However, they now seem to be permanent.
This has led to the entire area of Kamaraj Nagar, once in peace and calm, becoming a main traffic barrier,” said Advocate R Visveswaran, who proposed Complaints to police Chennai and Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
The stretch of 400 meters along the ECR (from the barricade to the Thiruvanmiyur Bus Terminus entrance) has been converted into a complete vegetable and fruit market.
Vehicle heavy ply on stretching all the time, produces traffic chaos, he said.
While GCC’s assistant engineers blamed the police department, Kapil Kumar C Saratkar, said the additional police commissioner (traffic), they would see this problem immediately.
