Chennai: Unknown men robbed the house of transportation companies in Anna Nagar and fled with 70 gold rulers worth RS 28lakh and diamond and silver jewelry worth Rs 19 lakh on Saturday.
The victim, D Elangovan, 54, a resident of Vallalar Kudiyiruppu at Anna Nagar West running a transportation and theft company occurred when he and his wife fell asleep at home.
According to police, Elangovan, who slept in a room on the first floor of the building, called for help when he found his room locked from the outside.
Milk vendors heard crying and bring help.
When he checked the rooms on the ground floor, he found valuables worth several lakh rupees stolen.
The thieves had opened another room on the first floor too.
Information, Tirumangalam police rushed to the place and conducted an investigation.
Fingerprint experts are also pressed into service.
CCTV camera recordings have been collected to identify thieves and casts have been registered.
Further investigation is active.
