Chennai: students from two Clash College, 3 held

Chennai: ‘gang war’ between students from two city universities took the turn of violence on Thursday after 18 students carrying sickles and blades attacking two students in other colleges, leaving them with several injuries in empty plots near the Anuppampattu train station on the day Friday.

The police have arrested three people in this case and have launched hunting for 15 other students.
Eyewitnesses told police that 18 students got off the train at the Anuppampattu train station and began pursuing the two students standing at the station.
In the empty plot nearby, they intercepted two students from Pachaiyappa colleges and attacked them with knives and sickles.
Hearing their crying, the person passing warned Minjur police, who arrested three Students Presidency College.
The police identified injured as Karthik, 21 and Akash, 21, both of them from Pachaiyappa’s.
The preliminary question revealed that the group fought on the ‘Supremacy’ route on the train from Chennai Central to Gummidipoondi, similar to competition on the bus route.
Two days ago, Karthik and Akash allegedly attacked students from the Presidency College.
The police have arrested Ajay of Minjur, Munusamy of Arambakkam and Rahul from Gummidipoondi, the three of them from the Presidency College.
What was injured had been treated at a private hospital.
The police also formed three special teams to arrest 15 other students belonging to the Presidency.
In March last year, two gang students had clashed at the Gummidipoondi train station, creating panic among passengers.
