Chennai: The city and several other districts in this country tend to receive more rain in the coming days due to advantageous weather conditions and the possibility of withdrawal of Southwest Monsun from October 6.
Monsun withdrawals will open the way for the emergence of the northeast road of Monsun, which brings more than 60% of the city’s annual rainfall.
IMD has estimated storms with light to moderate rain in the city and suburban for at least two days ahead and severe to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the southern part of the state until October 4.
The maximum and minimum temperatures can float on 31 Deg C and 25 DEG C.
N Puvarasan, Director, Cyclone Area Commemoration Center, IMD said the upper air circulation of the Bengal South Bay will trigger convective rainfall activities.
“When moving from west to east from the sea to land, it is the east trough it is likely to bring rainfall widespread in the state,” he said.
On Thursday, IMD announced that Southwest Monsoon would start withdrawing from several northwestern Indian parts around October 6.
The normal onset date for the northeastern monsoon was 20 days.
This monsoon is expected to bring 867 mm rainfall to the city between October and December, which is almost 63% of the annual rainfall of 1383.9mm city.
The June to September season has concluded with Nungambakkam, recording rainfall 558mm rainfall and meenambakkam 497.9mm which is 115.4mm and 10.1mm excessive.
Chennai’s subdivision has so far received 500.2mm against 459.9mm normally leaving excessive rainfall 9% during the same period.
Neighbor City Tiruvallur has recorded 19% and Kanchipuram 6% Surplus Rain while Chengalpet recorded a 15% deficit rainfall during the season.
“We can expect heavy rain or rainy rain in the city and over the day, the action shifts to the interior district.
The rainfall activity can continue until the first week of October,” said Blogger Pradeep John.
