Chennai: Chennai is likely to receive heavy rain starting Wednesday night because of low pressure in Bengal Bay moves closer to the beach.
The Met Department has expected the possibility of a mild storm with medium rain in the range of 5mm to 15mm per hour until 4pm on Wednesday in the northern region and the core of the city.
Storm with heavy rain until it is very heavy likely to be in isolated places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchepuram, Chengalpet, Cuddalore and Villupuram on Thursday.
Fishermen are advised not to explore the sea, said Deputy Director General of Regional Meteorology S Balachandran at a press meeting on Wednesday.
Delta and Tuticorin District, Ramanathapuram, Villupuram, Madurai, Sivaganga, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Virudhunagar, Pulajottai, Perambal, Kalakurichi, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Trichy, Tenkasi and Ariyalur Regency will also receive heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecasts for Chennai for 24 hours said, “The condition of the sky is likely to be cloudy.
The very heavy rain is likely to occur in isolated places.”
