Chennai: Terminus Bus in Velachery, often visited by thousands of commuters every day, does not have basic facilities and ongoing flying work also worsens it.
Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) operates buses along a dozen important routes from Velachhery to other areas in cities such as Bachelortur (D70), PERIAMBUR (568B) and Thiruporur (568b).
But the terminus bus can accommodate only four buses at once.
Therefore, passengers are forced to wait for the bus under extreme heat or rain.
Some of them waited under the tree a few meters away, and ran when the bus reached the terminus.
There is a sign that shows a list of buses that are expected to arrive or depart from the terminus.
The public address system is also dead most times, complaining of regular MTC bus commuters.
Senior citizens and students, who arrived at Terminus, also did not have a shelter while they waited in a long queue to get free or free bait updated.
On the opposite side (towards Tambaram), the bus holder has been completely dismantled.
S Kumara King of the Federation of Velachhery’s Welfare Association said that the ideal location for shifting the terminus bus will be a premise of the speed of the bulk transit system (located a diagonal opposite to the location of the existing terminus) so people get off the local train can easily take the bus to each area -Masing or vice versa.
If the discussion between the United States and the state government does not take any results, MTC must begin to see other possibilities.
There is a 1.75 hectare empty plot, which belongs to the Dalleeswarar Temple, on Jalan Taramani.
At present, Omni’s personal buses use this facility.
MTC can pay or take this land to rent to build the terminus, he added.
S Vignesh from Madipakkam said even the way of approaching Terminus lied for years and traffic congestion deteriorated every day during rush hour.
A MTC official in response to the highway department, who built a flyover, has promised to solve it at the end of December and only then the decision can be taken whether to develop a terminus in the existing location or to shift to a new location.
