Chennai: A 37-year-old woman was hit by a private bus in Velachery on Monday night.
The deceased, Sangeeetha from Dharmalingam Street, worked as a waiter in the area.
The accident occurred when he returned home in his bicycle at 19:50, after completing his work in a nearby apartment complex.
CCTV footage shows the driver driving in a negligent way without regard to the victim, which is right in front of the bus while negotiating his turn.
The police said that Sangeeetha was waiting to cross the road 100 feet at the intersection, when a private bus coming from Palikarai dropped it while alternating.
He didn’t pay attention to him even after he was under the right bus wheel.
He realized that he had hit cyclists, only after several members of the community came ran to stop him to move the bus further, police said.
However, Sangeeetha suffered a severe head injury and died in place.
Sangeeetha usually finished her work early but on Monday she left after meeting other servants in the area.

Eyewitnesses said that there was no indication that the mini bus tried to negotiate the curve.

“Sangeeetha tried to get off the bicycle, before the accident occurred,” said an investigative officer.
