Chennai: A man held kidnapping to squeeze 50 lakh from his mother in Malaysia.
On Wednesday, the Chooolaimedu police received a call from a woman named Sulekha from Malaysia.
He told the police that his 25-year-old son, Imran, who was in town for business, was kidnapped and his kidnappers demanded a ransom of 50 lakh.
The police rushed to the house where Imran lived and was told by his friends that he was taken away by three men.
Because the house is located in the jurisdiction of the Aminjai police station, the local police took an investigation and launched a search for the kidnappers.
However, for the surprise of officers, Imran himself appeared at the station and clarified that he had not been kidnapped.
The investigation revealed that Imran had taken 50 lakh loans from a friend for the restaurant business and did not return the amount.
Both decided to get money from Imran’s mother.
They called him claiming that Imran had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of 50 lakh for his release.
The police let Imran go with a warning and close the case after Sulekha attracted his complaint.
