Chennai: the wrong vaccination date to postpone the booster

Chennai: After begging the authorities at the King Institute for preventive treatment for more than six months, a 56-year-old resident of Anna Nagar finally received a vaccination certificate in November.
But because of a technical error in the Cowin portal, the hospital authority told him that the date of vaccination on the certificate would be November.
With the center insisting on the nine-month gap between the second dose and a booster shot, he might have to wait at least six more months to uncover himself with the omicron variant that spread quickly.
There are several other people like him who get a vaccination certificate later after receiving both doses.
“We told the nurse staff to record the names of people on Google Sheets and upload them on the Cowin portal later.
But when the crowds in vaccination centers swelled, many nurses staff write names on paper and upload them on Google Bed linen and Cowin.
Portal after a long gap, “said a senior official on the wing of immunization.
During a period of time, with a large backlog, some names never made it to the portal.
The state has no details about such a number of complaints, but the official staff of the staff were forced to upload the names of thousands of people late on the portal.
The Cowin portal allows individuals to make small corrections such as spelling names or sex, but not vaccination date.
“This will be a tiring process for us to refer to the record, verify the date of vaccination based on hospital records or PHC,” the official said.
“Until now we have decided that the booster dose will be given based on the date of vaccination mentioned in the certificate,” he said.
On Monday, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said the State would begin to vaccinate 33.20 lakh teenagers between 15-18 years from January 3 “while instructions for teenagers clear, we have not received information about the booster dose,” Subramanian said.
“We don’t know whether people have to be given the same vaccine or mixed doses.
We also don’t know the dosage they will need,” he said.
The state, he added, but is ready to start visiting priority groups including health care providers and senior citizens from January 10.
