Chennai: Three major cities – Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai – and 23 small cities feature Tamil Nadu in national ranking Swachh Survekshan 2021 for urban local agencies that have good sanitation and cleanliness levels.
Among the cities, Chennai, won a national rank 43, and has performed better than Coimbatore and Madurai within the country.
The perception of people about cleanliness management in the city seems to have increased rapidly in accordance with ranking because the city makes a sharp climb in rank compared to previous years.
By 2020, Chennai was ranked 45.
Coimbatore was ranked 46th attended by Madurai, which scored 47.
But non-metro cities such as Vijayawada, Pune, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Gwalior is one of the top cities.
Among the outskirts of the city, three local urban agencies – Avadi, Tambaram and Pallavaram – have succeeded in reaching a list of rankings for urban local agencies that have a population between one lakh and 10 lakh.
Like Chennai, the suburbs also show an increase.
