Chennai: A male nurse and a contract employee Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital was arrested for stealing eight bottles of immunoglobulin, each 5ml, worth ₹ 80,000 on the market and sold it for RS 800 respectively.
The nurse of the man who was arrested by Vinayagamurthy, 38, and Ravikumar contract staff, 37, stole a bottle from the IMC unit and made it in the refrigerator at the Imcu before selling bottles on the black market.
The hospital staff who took care of the stock found eight of the 22 bottles missing from the IMCU and they told hospital officials in February 3.
Meanwhile, they also found six more vials missing from the IMCU on February 6 and the staff then found the stolen vial remaining inside Trash box in the IMCU.
Based on the complaint of S Ragunanan, Head of the IMCU, Institute of Internal Medicine, Police Inspector GH registered the case and checked CCTV camera recordings.
They found that Ravikumar and Vinayagamurthy were behind Act and arrested them.
The duo was reduced by prison after appearing in the presence of the Magistrate Court in the city.
