Chennai unlocked, back crowd

Chennai: Pandemic may be far from above but people continue to be careful with the wind and coast of Marina and Marina in hundreds of locking restrictions have been relaxed.
While the marina is a windy, open space, people who packed the narrow Rangathan road in T Nagar mostly to shop for windows and for snacking did not bother that they were in an insecure environment.
Most people just take a walk without buying anything.
People have started looking at the commercial road as a vacation spot because many are found walking around peering into shops, having soft drinks or ice cream on Sundays.
T Nagar is how both are in pre-covid days.
Shops and vendors do businesses that are fast with unavoidable people from distance and social masks, the sidewalk is taken over by vehicles and traffic parked illegally on most stretches.
Police sources said that at least seven people lakh hit Nagar on Sunday.
Saravana Kumar from K K Nagar, who was in Nagar after a gap for more than a year, said almost no one was when he won the afternoon.
“The number of people increases late at night.
Many feel that vaccination will not get Covid-19,” he said.
Vinoth Kumar said that he did not come to shop but wanted to get out of his house because restrictions were relaxed.
The police are helpless.
“If we make people wear masks, they give reasons.
Some claim that they have a problem breathing,” said a traffic police officer.
In Marina, the police established a special entry point and exit with a thermal examination for pedestrians permitted between 5am and 9 in the morning and sealed into the sand from Kannagi statue to the workforce statue and used a public address system to warn people who violated the norms -Norma covid but people managed to enter the sand through the side of the Napier bridge.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tripicane, P Pagelavan interacts with pedestrians asking them to follow the safety protocol.
“We ensure all SOPs are followed.
All field vehicles and drones are deployed to make checks on them,” said Assistant Commissioner, Triplicane, M S Baskar.
A Chennai Corporation official said that the static team would be posted on Jalan Rangathan entries to prevent crowding.
“We have refused two entries.
From Monday entries it will be limited,” the official said.
Chennai City Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal has instructed the police to maintain vigils in 40 important places such as markets, shopping areas, parks and beaches opposite the city.
The police will be deployed based on shifts.
They have identified market areas where people are expected to crow in large quantities.
A separate tent will be established where visitors will be filtered for temperature and mask.
The public address system will be used to ask people to maintain social distance.
