Chennai: A 20-year-old student from Madras Christian College was stabbed to death by a young man when he walked away from him to Tambaram Train Station nearby at around 1,45 a.m.
on Thursday.
Eyewitnesses said Shwetha and Ramachandran, 25, arguing on the road that was busy to the station across from college when he took out a knife, holding it to his throat and threatening to commit suicide.
He turned and walked away when he suddenly stabbed him in the neck and six times in the stomach before surprisingly who could react.
As one of Shwetha’s friends shouted, Ramachandran turned the knife on himself, but the audience prevented him from killing himself and handed it to the police.
The police said they were gathered three years ago after twice meeting accidentally on the train to Nagapattinam.
They have fallen a few months ago when Ramachandran was angry with Shwetha who said the phone was busy every time he called.
Because of Covid locking, they mostly stay in touch by telephone.
The police said the couple had decided to meet on Thursday to resolve the problem.
While Ramachandran was interested in the patch-up, Shwetha preferred to break up with him when he was annoyed because he was suspicious about him.
Shwetha, a resident of Chromepet, is conducting a second year diploma in the Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) course at a sustainable MCC school.
Ramachandran, a graduate of the technique and native of Thirukkuvalai in the district of Nagapattinam, has worked in a car manufacturing unit in Chengalpattu.
He has rented a house in Marimalai Nagar.
According to eyewitnesses in place, both of them were seen talking and walking near the train quarter in Tambaram around 1.45 a night.
That’s when Ramachandran attacked him.
