NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court has directed that the Delhi authorities to take actions below the Witness Protection Scheme 2018 for shielding a witness at a murder case allegedly between Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar.
Justice Suresh K Kait led the Delhi authorities to submit an application prior to the competent jurisdiction for protecting the witness from the murder case under the said strategy within a week by June 2.
The large court further stated that the competent authority will have a decision within a week of submitting of this application and until a decision is obtained, Delhi Police would offer security to this witness.
Together with the leadership, the court of a request for defense transferred from the opinion, represented by supporters Ajay Kumar Pipaniya along with Pallavi Pipaniya, that has alleged that he also was beaten up by Sushil Kumar as soon as the incident occurred in the Chhatrasal Stadium here.
Sushil Kumar and his partners allegedly attacked Sagar Dhankar and 2 of his buddies Sonu Mahal along with Amit Kumar in the arena on the night of May 5 and 4 on a real estate dispute.
The 23-year-old Dhankar reacted to the injuries afterwards.
Sushil was detained on May 23.
The court had originally remanded him six months of police custody, and that was afterwards extended by four days on May 29 and about June 2 that he had been sent to judicial custody.
The witness, that had been among those men allegedly defeated from Sushil, has promised he fears for his own life because the Olympic medallist was connected with hardened offenders.
Advocate Ajay Kumar Pipaniya advised the dad that his client’s parents were influenced and threatened constantly by goons to not provide any testimony or statement contrary to the wrestler.
