Vasco: Three years after the new structure of the Chicalim District Hospital was operational, this facility finally received the equipment needed to start the operating theater (OT).
However, waiting to be operational continued because of other obstacles, lack of staff.
“It was the initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Goa, who contacted us and asked if we needed support to fight Covid-19.
Because we have received assistance during a pandemic, we thought of bringing out the need for equipment to start PL.
IRC immediately The agreed upon and sponsors of private companies based on corporate social responsibility help us.
The company provides equipment worth Rs 5 lakh and the remaining equipment worth RS 2 lakh provided by IRC, “said a sub-district official.
The hospital has received eight items – two double lights double led, surgical scrub basin with foot paddle and two beats, two inspection lights with holder, fogging machines, multipara monitors, defibrillators, volumetric infusion pumps, and refrigerator reagents.
“Previously, the PL was not handed over to us and so patients had to be referred to Hospicio Hospital in South Goa or Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
Patients always complain because they have to travel so far, this despite having sub-districts in their area.
Now, the only obstacles Is the staff needed to run PL.
We will ask the Directorate of Health Services to provide the number of staff needed because the facilities have been obtained.
