PANAJI: The leader of the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday said that the Congress could not drive BJP from power in the election of the next month’s cave assembly, the responsible Congress state must take responsibility.
TMC has approached Chidambaram with an official offer for the pre-polling alliance for February 14 goa polls, he told reporters here.
“When we arrived here, parties such as Congress and AAP asked questions such as (if) TMC tried to divide the anti-BJP sound,” Abhishek said, who was the TMC secretary general.
TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee has received a call for the same-minded people to establish an alliance, he said.
“MGP (Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party) advanced and formed Alliance (with TMC) but the rest of the party was busy distributing that TMC divided voice,” Abhishek said.
Chidambaram “misleads people to serve the interests of his party,” TMC leader accused.
“Chidambaram said that TMC had never submitted an offer (for the Alliance).
National Vice President of TMC Pawan Varma explained that he went to Chidambaram’s house on December 24 at 1.30 a night with the offer,” said Banerjee.
“He said there was no concrete offer from TMC.
Varma has said that he went to Chidambaram’s house and asked him that we had to unite to look after our ego besides Goans,” added TMC leaders.
“If he (Chidambaram) failed to defeat BJP, he must be the first to resign …
He must tell the world that he accepts responsibility,” Banerjee said further.
He also said that Congress, who asked people to provide the opportunity to rule the country, emerged as the largest party in 2017, but could not bring together flocks and 80 percent of the mlast defected.
BJP forms a government in Goa in 2017 with a rocky with a coalition.
