NEW DELHI: Searching restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir,” Congress leader Chidambaram on Monday said parliament should counter the”violating” legislation in the approaching monsoon session and reestablish the status quo ante there.
He claimed it is the sole method to draw on the starting lineup for a political settlement of the Kashmir problem.
“What was created under the Constitution cannot be unmade by an Act of Parliament, misinterpreting and misusing the terms of this Constitution,” he explained.
His comments come before their June 24 meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at which 14 political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, involving four former chief ministers, are invited for discussions.
“J&K has been a’country’ that signed an Instrument of Accession and also acceded to India.
It has to appreciate that status indefinitely.

Their faith and wishes should be honored,” he explained in a set of tweets.
“At the Monsoon session, the parliament should redesign the violating laws and reestablish the status quo ante from J&K.
That’s the only method to draw on the starting lineup for a political settlement of the Kashmir problem,” the former marriage ministry stated.
Chidambaram noted that you needs to keep in mind that the”dismembering” of all J&K was contested in the Supreme Court and the cases are pending for almost two decades.
“Congress party’s place, explained yesterday, that complete statehood has to be revived to J&K needs to clear any uncertainty or ambiguity,” he said.
Even the Congress needed on Sunday said it’s dedicated to recovery of full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir along with also the prime minister and the BJP have to take this requirement from the attention in Constitution and democracy.
Congress main spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said depriving Jammu and Kashmir complete statehood rather than letting its people to select their own representatives is an immediate assault on the inherent principles.
