JALANDHAR: Even as Congress high command is yet to decide on Punjab factionalism, CM Amarinder Singh’s Facebook ‘Punjab Da Captain’ is going ahead with ‘Captain for 2022’ campaign with more clarity.
An unannounced campaign has also been started, in which Congress leaders, especially those who got appointments in government offices or other local leaders, have started sharing posters projecting Amarinder as 2022 CM face on their social media platforms.
While some Congress leaders are putting up hoardings of ‘Captain for 2022’ at some places, more are joining and the latest slogan is ‘There is only Captain’.
A poster on the FB posted two days ago reads: ‘Our common slogan, Punjab’s Captain again’.
Another with tagline ‘Punjab da Captain 2022’ claimed “several big leaders are ready to join CM Captain”.
A poster about Punjab topping school education PG index also mentioned this slogan with #Captain2022.
Meanwhile, various Congress leaders have posted Amarinder’s poster for his projection as CM candidate in 2022 as their profile pictures or releasing such posters on their social media accounts.
PSSSB member Rahul Singh Sidhu posted ‘Captain for 2022’ and ‘There is only one Captain’.Jalandhar Improvement Trust chairman Daljit Singh Ahluwalia shared a poster on his Facebook with slogan ‘Punjab will again have Captain’s government only’.
In Pathankot Punjab Traders Board (E&T) chariman Puneet Pinta put up hoardings of “There is only one Captain” in Pathankot.
Some Congress workers have also started sharing posters with same tagline and similar slogans as their WhatsApp profile pictures.
Ludhiana DCC (urban) president Ashwani Kumar Sharma shared similar poster on his Facebook.Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Navtej Singh Cheema said since other parties have already started prepping for the 2022 assembly polls the ‘Captain for 2022’ hoardings are being put up to tell people about the developmental projects out in the area.
The Sultanpur Lodhi area, he said, got special attention from Amarinder, who continues to be the undisputed leader of the party in the state.
Hoardings backing Amarinder have also appeared in parts of Amritsar.
Kartarpur Improvement Trust chairman also put up hoardings with ‘Our common slogan, only Captain again’ in Jalandhar.
